What is Larvar Tear In Elden Ring?
Larval Tears are things that let you change your Elden Ring specialization. Simply put, this means letting you redistribute the points you’ve spent leveling up. This means you can change your build if you want to try out a new way to play or get back some stat points you accidentally put somewhere else. But to do this, you must first defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.
You can talk to Rennala in her boss arena after you’ve defeated her; she’ll let you respec for a Larval Tear or change your appearance for free (though you can do either of these things for free in Fia’s room at the Roundtable Hold, too). Don’t waste your precious few Larval Tears in the game. Locating these items is covered in the following sections.
How To Use Larvar Tears?

Larvar Tears In Elden Ring
Enemy Drops
Many of the Larval Tears in Elden Ring can be found on the ground after being dropped by transformed enemies. There are weaker foes that you can safely ignore and enemies that will spoil your victory by becoming even more powerful after you’ve defeated them.
Note: These enemies will only give you one Larval Tear and will not respawn.
Location | Initial Enemy | Transformation | How To Find |
---|---|---|---|
Limgrave | Wandering Noble | Runebear | Travel to the east from the Agheel Lake South Grace Site. Since the Wandering Noble always appears to be by himself and motionless at the edge of a cliff, he is easy to spot. |
Liurnia of the Lakes | Giant Crayfish | Grafted Scion | A group of four Giant Crayfish can be found north of the Folly on the Lake Site of Grace. Only one of the four enemies will be fully alert and active; this is the one who will drop the Larval Tear. |
Caelid | Wandering Noble | Troll | West of the Cathedral of Dragon Communion and south of the Caelid Highway, the South Site of Grace is a graveyard where you can find this wayward noble. |
Altus Plateau | Wandering Noble | Lion Guardian | You’ll find this wayward noble to the east of the Minor Erdtree among the ruins. From the Site of Grace at the Windmill Village, try traveling south. |
Consecrated Snowfield | Wandering Noble | Runebear | The location of the Three Nomadic Nobles is just a little to the southeast of the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace. Our transforming foe is buried halfway in the snow. |
Mt. Gelmir | Putrid Corpse | Wormface | The Site of Grace on the Road of Iniquity is next to the camp. There will be a fire in the Putrid Corpse. |
Tip: Defeating many of these foes will require considerable effort; you shouldn’t risk losing too many runes by using them all. Try to match your choice of summoning to the transformed version of the enemy; for example, the Runebear in Limgrave is close enough to a summoning point to use Spirit Ashes.
In addition to the enemies, as mentioned earlier, metamorphoses, some enemies will randomly spit out Larval Tears. All but one of these foes are Silver Spheres, those enormous, shiny balls that love to roll at you at breakneck speeds.
In Nokron, Eternal City, you’ll find a single Silver Sphere foe, while in Nokstella, Eternal City, you’ll find three. While Silver Spheres respawn like most other enemies in the game, they will never drop more Larval Tears when killed than the initial one.
You will receive two Larval Tears when you defeat the Mimic Tear boss. Only the Nokron Eternal City version will drop one, while the Haligtree version will not.
Larval Tears for Sale

There are two kinds of Larval Tears you can buy in the game:
- The first is offered by Pidia, a shopkeeper who can be found inside Caria Manor. You must defeat Royal Knight Loretta to complete the area and get to Pidia. Outside her boss’s area, turn left and proceed straight. From there, use the platforms to descend into a different section of the Manor.
- The Nomadic Merchant, who has a storefront near the brazier puzzle in Siofra River, sells the second item.
Both Larval Tears cost 3,000 runes to purchase.
Lootable Larval Tears

You can also pick up a few Larval Tears throughout the game.
- The earliest Larval Tear you can locate in Liurnia of the Lakes is in the cemetery in the Village of the Albinaurics, which you can get to by going under the substantial landmass southwest of Liurnia of the Lakes.
- Additionally, two Larval Tears can be easily located in Nokron, Eternal City.
To locate one, search the nearby structures while being extremely cautious of the nearby enemies. Nokron, Eternal City Site of Grace
The second is in a small building just before the Mimic Tear boss battle and is located inside. As you approach, Silver Tears will start to fall on top of you. Watch out.
One of Elden Ring’s painting quests rewards you with a Larval Tear. First, go to the Artist’s Shack and find the Resurrection Painting. It is just north of the entrance to the Carian Study Hall on the map, and there is a Site of Grace close by.
You should be able to find a ghost in the graveyard north of Caria Manor once you have the painting in your inventory. To get this, you have to beat Royal Knight Loretta. The link in the section above has more information. You’ll get the Larval Tear if you talk to the ghost.
